Hello, my name is Megan Miller and I am currently a freshman at Montclair State University. I am from Pequannock, New Jersey, which is about twenty minutes from the university. I am a very creative person. When I am not with friends or family, you can usually find me sketching and painting. You might also find me running around town or playing field hockey. However, one of my main interests lies within fashion and my advocacy for sustainable brands. I have loved fashion ever since I was little. You could say I have a true “passion for fashion”. Growing up I was always using my artistic abilities to draw gowns and other ideas. I even have several sketchbooks and journals filled with drawings. Some of my 5-year-old concepts might be questionable, but it is this growth as an individual that has kept me on this path. As a current Communication and Media Arts major with a minor in Fashion Studies, I would like to make a potential career out of creating my own brand or working on the public relations team for a sustainable brand. It is important to build a bridge between you and the public, and Public Relations would allow me to do so. However, I want to make ethically sourced clothing accessible to everyone. Because of the fashion industry’s environmental impacts, it is important that this topic become more well known so we can take action. Besides this, I also have an interest in writing for a fashion magazine. I currently have my sights set on Vogue as I have read it for many years and have such a great respect for their editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. I enjoy any kind of writing, but fashion has always been what I love writing about the most. Working for Vogue would be a dream come true. Although I might not have an exact idea for my professional goals, I am determined to work within the fashion industry so I can put my creativity to the test. As long as I can have creative freedom in my future career, I will be happy.
